I’m really excited to share another meaningful milestone in my WordPress journey — I’ve made my first contribution to WordPress Photos!
For a long time, I wanted to contribute to the WordPress community in a way that felt simple, creative, and helpful. While coding contributions can sometimes feel intimidating, contributing to WordPress Photos gave me a beautiful opportunity to support the community through visual content. It reminded me that open-source is not only about writing code — it’s also about sharing resources that help others build better websites.
WordPress Photos is a growing library of free, community-contributed images that anyone can use in their WordPress projects. By contributing photos, I’m helping designers, developers, bloggers, and business owners find high-quality visuals for their websites without worrying about copyright or licensing issues. Knowing that someone, somewhere in the world, might use my photos to bring their website to life feels incredibly rewarding.
The contribution process itself was a great learning experience. I learned about image guidelines, quality standards, and how important it is to upload content that is useful, clear, and visually appealing. It also helped me think more about how visuals impact user experience — a good photo can make a website feel more professional, more human, and more engaging.
This contribution may be small, but it means a lot to me. It’s another step forward in my open-source journey, and it motivates me to keep giving back to the WordPress community in different ways — through photos, translations, and hopefully more types of contributions in the future.
If you’ve ever wanted to contribute to WordPress but felt unsure how to start, WordPress Photos is a great place to begin. You don’t need to be a developer — you just need a willingness to share and support the community. This is just the beginning for me, and I’m excited to keep learning and contributing more.
